We're kicking off a series of posts where we'll be giving you the low-down of new improvements we're adding to the platform.

These updates are all on the latest version of Vuelio, so you may not see these upgrades on your platform. If you'd like to find out more about a new feature or service, please get in touch with your account manager.

Today's post is all about the latest set of features we're bringing to our new Media Database. Some of you are already using this, but for many of you this will be the first peek! If you like what you see and want to know more, or want to give us any feedback on what we're working on, we'd be delighted to hear from you!

So, what are we adding?

Recent Article Search

What is it and why is it useful?

This is a brand new feature to Vuelio. It allows you to make searches in our Media Database to return contacts who’ve written about your topic of interest. That means you'll have a much easier time identifying who are the most relevant and important people to be speaking to.

How does it work?

When performing a keyword search in our new Media Database, you will now see contacts with articles that match your keyword search criteria. You can find these in the second tab of the preview pane, which you can jump to by clicking the article icon in the grid:

As you can see in the above, we match the keyword against the text/title of the article. We can only show the main body of text for certain types of licensed content - for more information about this and what licenses we show, check out our article dedicated to that topic.

If an article contains multiple matches, you’ll see a little icon indicating how many additional matches there are – you can then click anywhere on the matched article to view these:

As a final note, we ignore common words like ‘or’, ‘the’ and so on, to help your searches stay more relevant.

You can also view the articles a contact has recently written on their profile, too. This feature has been updated to include print data.

What's next for this feature?

We'd love your feedback to help shape the future of this feature, but wanted to share what we're already intending to do:

  • We want the amount a contact writes about a keyword to affect their position in the search results. There's some quite complicated scenarios we want to make sure we're getting right before adding this in.

  • We're will add the ability to search recent articles against outlets as well.

  • We will add the ability for you to surround a series of words in double quotes so that you can return only contacts who have written about that exact phrase. Currently, it will look for each word individually.

Comments / Profile Updates

What is it and why is it useful?

We're adding the ability for you to leave private notes against a contact or outlet profile, visible to anyone within your organisation. This means you and your colleagues can share important information about who you're dealing with.

We've also modified the records tab so that, like comments, it's available in a collapsible panel on the profile. This is where you can find any content you've associated with the contact or outlet:

These are controlled by the two buttons along the top right, with the red dot indicating there is content inside.

You can then add, edit or delete Comments. You can edit or delete them by clicking on the ellipses for an options menu. You can only edit or delete your own comments, which are identified by the yellow bar!

There’s also an expanded view available by clicking this icon:

These changes apply to outlets as well, and we’ve moved the ‘linked outlets’ to their own tab (previously they were in the top right).

We’ve also taken the opportunity to make records available to view within the search preview pane for both contacts and outlets. This also has a red dot indicator to tell you if there’s records available before you open it:

Last thing to note, if you’re looking at the ‘Overview’ screen for a person who has many roles, you will still be able to view all the records for each position here. However, you cannot currently view or add comments on this screen.

That's it for today! Let us know what you think, we'd love to have your feedback, as it really helps us make the experience better.
