How is the Media Database refreshed?
A: We have an in-house research team who constantly update and monitor the records held within our database. We speak with journalists on a daily basis to ensure their information is correct, and work with a variety of providers, including ABC and MOZ to ensure our data is comprehensive and up to date. Our research process involves a variety of methods including journalist outreach, media monitoring, networking with journalists as well as dealing with inbound queries directly from journalists and bloggers.
A2. (International): Our supplier operates a rolling timeline for our influencer verifications, which incorporates set data schedules, press release bounce backs, social media analysis, press list updates as well as updates from the media itself (press teams/influencers). Across their global research teams they make over 25,000 daily updates.
If a contact or outlet is not listed in our media database you can request our research team add it by emailing [email protected]. The team can also make updates to existing contacts and outlets.

How is the influencer score calculated?
A: Vuelio includes an influencer rating on Outlets and Contacts in the database. This is based on multiple criteria including: Kred and Moz scores (social authority scores), Twitter followers, type of media outlet, circulation of media outlet and many other data points.
These are put in our own algorithm to generate the Vuelio Influencer Score to help you identify the influencers that are most likely to further amplify your brand or message online.
How are Topics calculated on the right hand side of journalist profiles?
A: We analyse articles written by journalists to collect intelligence about the topics, trends and entities that they write about and populate these automatically within their profile. These supplement the researched topics, which have been manually curated by our research team, to help give you a deeper understanding of the journalists focus and current activity to help you tailor your pitch accordingly.
When contacts move Outlets, do they automatically get removed from my group?
A: Yes, Contacts will be removed from all groups because they are effectively deleted, and a new position is opened. (NB we store Contact Positions at the Group level and not the main individual identity).
All previous engagements (Releases, Enquiries, Interactions, etc) will remain in your system, but will no longer link to the removed Contact.
Why does a contact not have an influencer rating?
A: Influencer scores are updated periodically as new data becomes available on contacts and outlets, however not all contacts receive an Influencer Score and we cannot determine who will and will not receive a score in the system as it is based on a variety of factors and is calculated on the backend of the database using a broad range of data points - including content frequency, engagement, social presence and following to determine overall influence.
Why does X (Online Record) not have a UMV figure?
A: In order to provide consistency with our UMV figures, data is provided by a third party, Similarweb.
We have checked the record for X and unfortunately there is not enough data available to our provider to calculate a UMV figure this outlet at this time. UMV figures are regularly updated in our system and will be updated if more data becomes available to our provider.
How are the UVPM (unique visits per month) figures calculated?
A: Vuelio partner with SimilarWeb who work with a variety of sources to provide accurate Outlet metadata, such as UVPM.
Their four main sources are:
1. A panel of over 200 million monitored devices, currently the largest panel in the industry
2. Local internet service providers (ISPs) located in many different countries
3. Web crawlers that scan every public website to create a highly accurate map of the digital world
4. Hundreds of thousands of direct measurement sources from websites and apps that are connected with SimilarWeb directly.
Generally we refresh the figures on a quarterly basis after the 15th day of April, July, October and January (to pick up data for the calendar quarters). But newly-added sites are requested after a few minutes.
How often are your Forward Features updated?
A: Vuelio request the following year’s forward features lists annually from October. These are updated as soon as we receive responses from publications. We do not list features for websites or newspapers.
