What is 'GDPR Forget'?

We’re building functionality for users to better manage the contacts they interact with.

The UK GDPR introduces a right for individuals to have personal data erased. This is also known as the ‘right to be forgotten’.

If a media contact invokes their right to be forgotten by your organisation, we will ensure that their contact details are no longer accessible within your instance of Vuelio. A 'shell' record will persist for historic evidence.

How do I Forget a Contact?

You can forget a contact directly from their profile page:

  1. When viewing a contact's profile, select 'Forget Contact' via the Actions menu:

  2. Enter any relevant details about the request, such as when/how the individual contacted you, or anything useful for future reference:

  3. Once Forgotten, the following message will replace the profile page. Here you'll see any details entered, the date/time forgotten and by which user:

How do I find GDPR Forgotten Contacts?

These contacts will appear within search results by default with appropriate labelling:

You may only search information that is still available - such as their name, outlet & job title.

The quick search also provides a similar indicator to help identify such contacts:

We have also included a new search filter!

You can now limit your searches to specifically see just forgotten contacts.

Click 'Show More' search filters (if needed) then 'Contact Preference' and check the option for GDPR Forgotten:

Your contact search results will now be limited to this selection of contacts (if any exist):

Additional Notes

  • Both Public and Private contacts can be forgotten

  • Forgetting a contact is permanent and all communication details will be removed throughout the system.

  • Forgotten contacts cannot be exported or saved to groups

  • The contact will be removed from all existing Groups you have saved

  • This will apply to all positions a contact holds - potentially across multiple outlets.

  • Any other records linked to a forgotten contact (such as Press Releases or Enquiries) are maintained, however they won't be visible from their profile

  • Contacts may instead wish to be removed entirely from our media database. This will be actioned by our internal research team and the contact will no longer be available on Vuelio.

  • Additional information on the right to erasure is available here
