Posting a Press Release to the Newsroom

Firstly, create your press release as usual.

In the "Distribution Channels" tab, choose "Newsroom"

  1. Image - Allows you to add an image to the Newsroom release, this image will also show in the gallery on the Live Website.

  2. Non-Image Attachments - Can be added to the release and will show once the visitor clicks into the release on the Live Website.

  3. Display Category - Allows you to tag a Category to a Press Release where visitors on Newsroom site can then use these as filters to find content (Region also behaves in the same manner and is a field located on the Content tab). [email protected] will add these Categories for you to choose from.
NOTE: If you do not add a Category to a release posted to the Newsroom, it will not show as a tab on the live site. See the image below.

  4. Create Preview - Allows you to see a Preview of the Live Website with any changes made.

  5. Publish to Newsroom - Allows the release to be seen in the Live Website.

  6. From the Distributions module you can see the status of your releases/newsroom items:

The coloured icons in the Status column will confirm the following -

“Published” (Green) - This icon will show after a Newsroom Release has been successfully sent.

“Draft” (Grey) - This icon is for a Newsroom Release that has been drafted but not sent.

“Scheduled” (Blue) – This icon is for a Newsroom Release that has been scheduled to be sent at a future date. This may show right after publishing an article, but will only display for a few minutes and then turn to the Green icon.

“Unpublished” (Orange) - This icon is for a Newsroom Release that has been unpublished.

"RePublished" (Pink) - This icon confirmed a previously cancelled Newsroom release has been reuploaded.

See below for an example of the Press Releases section of the Live Website:

  1. This is the Press Releases section of the Live website where you will find all Press Releases you have added to the Newsroom.

  2. These are the categories set up by support which are then selected as you are creating the Press Release and attaching it to the Newsroom.

  3. These are your Press Releases which will show the main image you added in the Press Releases module.

Republishing/Editing a Release to the Newsroom

To re-publish the same article or to publish any changes to an article, follow these steps:
1. Open a sent Release (If posted to the Newsroom already, this must be the most recently published version)
2. Select 'Distribution Channels', Select Newsroom from Dropdown.
3. Click the 'Edit for Newsroom'.
4. Apply all the changes, save and then click "Re-publish to Newsroom".

This will create a new release record in the Distribution table with a Pink icon (Republished). Please note, any "Parent"/original version that has been edited once, will not be able to then be unpublished or republished. It requires locating the most recent child (edited) release to then unpublish or republish. This allows an audit trail of published/republished articles.

Note: If you CLONE an article, this will create a copy of the article, but it will have a different URL. Whereas editing/republishing will keep the original URL.

Removing a Press Release from the Newsroom

Firstly navigate to the Distributions module:

1. Click the name of the Press release added to the newsroom, look out for this icon to confirm where it was posted or if republished then the associated child with a Pink icon:

2. Select the Distribution Channels tab and select Newsroom from the Dropdown. You will then see the button to Unpublish from Newsroom.

Note: This will remove the Release and all the associated assets from the Media Library
