New Political Database Searching & Creating Groups

Locate and Create Groups of Individuals from the Political Database

Firstly, navigate to Political Contacts using the menu in the top left corner >

There are many filters to utilise in the Political Browser, which allow you to not only search through profiles listed on the Database, but also use connections to social and political content feeding through in the background.

The Search page is made up of three different areas:


Filters

You can find these filters on the left-hand side of the window and by scrolling down to see more:

Search - This option allows the seamless search of a profile. Typing in and pressing enter will allow you to bring up all profiles that match your keyword or phrase selections >

Search Recent Coverage - This option uses the Political monitoring feed to provide content mentioning the keyword or phrase entered into this box.

Contact results will appear on the right, and you will have the opportunity to select an individual, click on the Coverage tab and view the content where the keyword or phrase exists >

City Location - This searches for contacts with a specific address. This is NOT the individual's constituency.

Constituency - You can select your results to filter by the contact's constituency. You can either select from the list or use the search bar to look for a specific constituency.

Contact Role - From MP to Peer, you can narrow down your search by a contact's specific political role.

Contact Type - This allows quick selection of a contact from our Database, or the other paid-for additional Data sets > Councillor / Civil Service / Local Government. Speak to your account manager for quotes and access information.

  • Councillor - Roughly 20,000 Contacts, including name, email, party, phone number, council and ward.

  • Civil Service - Roughly 8,000 - 9,000 Contacts, including name, email, job title and organisation they work for.

  • Local Government - Roughly 20,000 Organisations and Contacts, including name, email, telephone number and organisation they work for.

Government - Select which government the individuals are a part of.

Institution - A way of filtering and navigating to contacts within specific APPGs / Committees.

Interests (Professional) - Allows you to search for contacts who on their profile has a specific professional interest in certain policy areas, e.g. Community, Social Action, International Aid, etc.

Interests (Recreational) - These are for a similar search to the above, however, sourcing from the Recreational Interests listed on profiles.

Job Title - Search for a specific job title.

Legislative Body - As the name suggests e.g. House of Lords / House of Commons.

Party - Allows you to drill down into contacts from specific Parties.

Profile -

Relationship - This provides the option of showing your Green, Amber or Red categorisations of individuals.

Unsubscribe Status - If you wish to see contacts who have unsubscribed or those available for you to contact.

Name - If you wish to search for a specific named contact. Simply type and press enter.


Saved Search

Search filters used to find relevant Contacts can be saved within your account and effortlessly applied repeatedly to find updated results with the same filters.

Create a New Saved Search

From the Contact search page, apply the appropriate filters to find relevant results. In the image below I have selected the "Applied" filters button to review my options >

Once you're happy with the search, click 'Create' in the area on the left >

Enter a Name for your search and click Save >

Success! A notification will confirm that your search has been saved >


Load or Clear an existing Saved Search

Click 'Load' to view all searches stored within your account >

Select a search to Load and view its results immediately. You may then select this updated list of results and save to a Group.

The text Filter can help you locate specific searches once you've accumulated a larger number of saved searches >

If a Saved Search has already been loaded, click the name of the search at the top then "Load Another Search" to switch between searches OR "Remove Search & Filters" to start a new one >


Update or Change a Saved Search

Load an existing search (using the steps above) and amend the search criteria by adding and/or removing filters.

Click 'Save' to save these latest changes >

A notification will confirm that your Saved Search has been updated with these latest changes >


Rename / Delete a Saved Search

Load an existing Saved Search and click Options.

Change the Name and click Save to apply the change >

Delete a Saved Search by again loading the search and click Options.

Click Delete Search >

Review the warning pop-up and either delete search or go back.

Warning: Deletion is permanent!


Results

Results of your search will be visible on the right of the screen. From these you can use the checkbox next to each, or select all along the top to save to a Group. See Options to create a Group.

Profile Info

Profile Name - Clicking the profile name will direct you to the individual profile page for more information. If you are creating a Group, do click the name of the individual.

Icons - Selecting any of the icons will open a tab on the right hand side, which will itemise data stored against the particular individual.

Party & Constituency Detail - These are not selectable. Information only.

Contact Details - These can be selected and either copied or navigated.

Data Tab

This tab provided details of all the connections with the individual. To see this tab, click into the profile tile of interest:

Profile Link - Direct link to the Individual's profile page.

Profile Information - From here you can see standard info and contact details, but also links to any articles and committees they are assigned to.

Associated Content - From this tab, you can see any and click into; content the individual has created i.e. Twitter, and/or content where the individual has been mentioned.

Staff - Select and create a list using staff contacts, or copy email and telephone numbers.

APPG's & Committees - Specifically view Committees and APPG's the individual is and was a part of.


Options

Along the top of the results, you will see a few options:

Checkbox - Click this to select all within the search results.

Save - Select this button to save your selection to an existing or new Group

Export .CSV - Export the selected to a CSV file. >
