The Political Monitoring module contains all intelligence sent to you via your regular alerts but also our entire archive of political content regardless of search parameters, giving you full access to a rich library of previous political activity for ad-hoc searching and reporting.

Here's a full overview guide, or scroll below for a written version:

Firstly navigate to Political Monitoring from the main navigation >

Once at the Reporting dashboard, you have numerous options and filters to navigate the content, you may use THIS guide for an in depth explanation of how to navigate and search for content.

Once you have searched and found the content you wish to report on, you have two options:

Stats

This shows content within a small quick view, where you can download a handful of charts >

Main Dashboards

Overview

These can be located by selecting the Analytics Icon in the top left and is the main area for all the charts and options to amend them >

Down the left hand side you still have access to all the filters but instead of showing the content on the right, on this screen, the data will show in sets of charts >

Coverage by date - Shows the trend of content received within the parameters of the current search.

Top Authors - Confirms the names of the authors of the content, this is initially limited to the Top 10, you may amend this in the chart options.

Top Feeds - Confirms the amount of content which is sourced from the top 10 feeds.

Top Tags - Based on the Tags created in your platform, this confirms the amount of content which contains the top 10 tags.

Top Parliamentary Participants - This chart confirms the names of the Top 10 parliamentarians which are mentioned in the content.

Top Tags by Date - Again showing Top 10 Tags, but stacked and itemised over time.

Top Authors by Date - Again confirming the names of the top 10 authors of the content, but stacked and itemised over time.

Political Segments by Date - This chart confirms the trend of Political Segments the content is from, over time.

Edits & Exports

Exporting Data

Using the Export PDF option at the very top of the Dashboard you may download a high resolution PDF which includes all charts in the current Dashboard >

Each chart in the top right hand corner has the ability to download to a JPG file or amend the chart by way of chart type or display more values instead of the default "Top 10" >

The Detailed view (in the image above) allows you to expand the chart to view a breakdown of the content included in the chart. From here you can download the charts itself, aswell as access to editing options above >

OR select the data you wish to include and then download to a .CSV file >

Creating/Editing Dashboards/Charts

You may either create brand new dashboards yourself or clone and edit (Save As) dashboards which have already been created:

Creating a New Dashboard

All of the charts available are already part of the default Dashboard, however you may like to "Edit" this version and "Save As" to create a copy with your own changes >

Click the Pencil Icon on the top left and rename the dashboard, you can also add a description >

Adding Charts

Options of available charts will appear on the left hand side. They can be easily dragged and dropped into the dashboard and resized by dragging the bottom right of each chart >

You can then use the filters and options on the right to edit the chart.

Editing Charts

If someone has already created a dashboard or you wish to edit a Master Dashboard, firstly click into it from the dropdown selector, then use the Edit button on the top right >

You can click an existing chart and edit it on the right hand side.

From here you can select the filters and data for that specific chart. This also works if you wish to amend a chart already on the dashboard. In the image above I've selected the Top Authors chart and wish to amend it using the filters on the right.

You have the options of amending the Name, Description, and Chart Type can also be amended. Additionally you have the ability to change the chart based on filters. These will then override the search of the dashboard you selected initially on the left. The full list of filters and explanations can be found HERE.

The chart will reflect the changes and only show you data from the coverage matching the filters and options selected.

Split Data

In some chart types (apart from Pie Charts) you will also have the ability to split data within the main segments of the chart. In the example below I have added a Source Top Tags chart and split the data by the Political Participants, this way I can tell which contacts I could approach regarding the specific topical areas >

Dynamic Highlighting

With Bar charts specifically, it is possible to select a bar of data, and the entire Dashboard will then change dynamically to reflect the dataset from the bar(s) selected >

e.g. Standard set of data

e.g. Selected bar, then dynamically changes the charts on the Dashboard

When a bar(s) have been selected the Detailed view will now show only content from the bar(s) selected in the grid at the bottom, allowing you to export only that set of data >
